In the early 1970s, the ARA region had no specialist supplying electrotechnical components to seagoing vessels. Seeing this gap, the Haverkamp family founded Imatech - short for International Marine Technics. What started as a practical solution quickly gained traction. Crews visiting the ports of Rotterdam, Amsterdam and Antwerp spread the word, orders followed, and growth came naturally. To avoid ever disappointing customers, Imatech began building stock, soon filling the family home beyond capacity.

As orders increased, space and people became limiting factors. Imatech moved to Hellevoetsluis, closer to the international port of Rotterdam, initially working from modest facilities. But momentum continued. In 1980, the company relocated to proper offices, followed by a larger site on the Daltonweg in 1983. Offices and storage remained under one roof, reflecting Imatech’s practical mindset: short lines, fast decisions and full control over service and logistics.

In 2001, Erling Haverkamp took over the company from his parents, continuing the family-driven philosophy while expanding Imatech’s horizons. A move to the current premises on the Christiaan Huygensweg in 2008 created room for further growth. International expansion followed, with a back office in Manila in 2011 and an office in Singapore in 2016, bringing Imatech closer to customers operating across the globe.

Today, Imatech is a trusted partner for shipowners and offshore operators worldwide. With a team of around 50 professionals, a permanent and extensive stock, advanced logistics and deep technical expertise, the company supports critical operations every day. Still family-owned, still hands-on, and still driven by service, Imatech remains committed to doing what it has always done best - going the extra mile for its customers.
